ZDNet Takes a Closer Look at the "Highly Capable" Venom 1800-0T

The folks over at ZDNet recently tested the Boston Venom 1800-0T workstation, dubbed the 'Baby' Venom due to its compact size. The reviewer, Alan Stevens, found that good things DO come in small packages, highlighting that the workstation is "highly capable" and saying "video editors, animators, modellers, and other professionals - particularly those with limited space and modest budgets - should investigate"!

Overall, ZDNet were impressed by how much is squeezed into such a small package and also how quiet the system ran, particularly because the it includes a full size NVIDIA Quadro K4000.

Given the small dimensions of the Venom 1800-0T it could be considered semi-portable, and ZDNet made an interesting comparison of the workstation to the Eurocom Panther 5D mobile workstation they reviewed a couple of months ago. The Panther 5D performed slightly better in the CPU test (11.6 points vs. the baby Venom’s 8.13 on the Cinebench 11.5 benchmark), but the Venom 1800-0T performed dramatically better in the OpenGL test (98.72 frames per second vs. the Panther 5D’s 42.1fps). Even more interesting was the price comparison - £1,999 for the Venom vs. £5,071 for the Panther 5D!

ZDNet concluded that the Venom 1800-0T is ideal for product designers, professionals running complex simulations, and professional videos editors. All in all, the Venom 1800-0T definitely packs a punch and delivers great bang for your buck!
