As reported in the last post by guest blogger Tiffany, a select group of elite Boston Limited athletes embarked on a 30 mile cycle challenge on Thursday to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The team is delighted to announce that the £1,000 fundraising target was achieved and that everyone returned back to base in one piece!
The anticipation on the start line was almost unbearable as questions such as "is it possible to look good in Lycra?", "will we make it before it gets dark?" and "can we stop at the pub on the way?" were overheard. At 4pm Boston's Managing Director Manoj Nayee led the way from the city of St Albans (see picture below), following the Alban Way through Hatfield, to Hertford… and then back again!
It was dark by the time the team arrived back, and getting a little cold, but spirits were high as the donations kept rolling in. Once the weary cyclists returned to base there was still time for a little bit of socialising before heading back home to recover. Some were even planning to bake cakes for a fundraising coffee morning the next day!
The target was confirmed on Friday morning and everyone was utterly delighted to hit the £1,000 mark. The 'Boston on Bike' squad would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that donated and took part in the cycle challenge. It's always wonderful to see people getting together and raising money for a fantastic charity.
Well done everyone - let's get training for Boston on Bikes 2014!
