SANTA CLARA, Calif., - February 19, 2014 - Nexenta, the global leader of Software Defined Storage (SDS) solutions, today announced a Total Economic Impact (TEI) commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting that focuses on enterprise Software Defined Storage and examines the potential return on investment (ROI) using NexentaStor™ technology.
The study provides readers with a framework to evaluate the potential financial impact of NexentaStor on their organizations. The TEI model and methodology help companies demonstrate, justify and realize the tangible value of IT initiatives. The methodology consists of four components to evaluate investment value: benefits, costs, risks and flexibility. Forrester determined that Nexenta's Software Defined Storage solution, NexentaStor, resulted in material cost savings and avoidance and scalable business benefits.
A customer in the study noted that by configuring the SSD-accelerated system to use NFS, NexentaStor reduced connectivity costs by about 70 percent. The study found that NexentaStor offered an ROI of 81 percent over three years. The various benefits for the interviewed customer included:
"Adopting SDS and NFS creates opportunities to use nonproprietary hardware and avoids 'built-in' markups from legacy storage providers," according to the Forrester Consulting study. "The customer estimated that it reduced hardware costs by 70 percent. Not only does this allow the customer to source hardware more competitively, the customer also gets the flexibility to upgrade to the highest-end storage as needed."
"This study provides detailed and quantitative proof on how our customers are leveraging Nexenta's SDS solutions for CAPEX and OPEX flexibility, virtualization enhancement, and increased performance," according to Tarkan Maner, Chairman and CEO of Nexenta. "As with many of our customers, in an environment of shrinking IT budgets and increasing expectations, the cost savings and flexibility are key reasons for the choice of Nexenta.
To help our clients make informed decisions about new technologies, we have opened up our research & development facilities and actively encourage customers to try the latest platforms using their own tools and if necessary together with their existing hardware. Remote access is also available
