BENGALURU, July 23, 2015 - Boston, a global technology partner for server manufacturer Super Micro Computer in servers, storage, and solutions, on Wednesday inaugurated its India server solutions assembly facility here.
Interacting with Deccan Herald, London headquartered Boston's Managing Director Manoj Nayee said the local assembly is the first of its kind in Asia.
"The assembly line will help us to bring down the pricing and be close to our partners and customers. We will bring 30 per cent of components from abroad, while the rest will be procured. This will help us also to be part of the Make in India campaign," he said.
Nayee said the company focused mainly on high performing computing devices in the country and cater to its 50 per cent market share. "The new assembly line will help us to address the requirement of the mid-segment in the Indian market with pre-built servers, workstations and storage solutions. This segment is growing substantially," he said.
Boston has already invested $100,000 and plans to move the facility soon to an SEZ facility. "We started off our India journey in 2009 and have gained substantial market presence along with other ten partners. Last fiscal, our total revenue from India stood at $10 million, and this will double this fiscal," he said.
Nayee said the facility will have the capacity to produce hardware worth $15 million, and once it stabilises after two to three years, the company will think of exporting products from India.
According to a study by research firm Gartner, the Indian data centre infrastructure market comprising server, storage, and networking equipment will reach $2.03 billion in 2015, making it the second-largest market and the second-fastest growing market in APAC.
