The Boston VS 361 G8 is a high-end, feature-rich 1U server solution supporting up to two of Intel®’s next generation 12-core Xeon® E5-2600 V2 series processors. These new CPU’s enable significant performance improvements over the last generation through a higher core count (12 cores vs. 8), faster memory bus (1866 MHz from 1600MHz) as well as increased virtualization performance through APIC Virtualization.
The VS 361 G8, based on the X9DRW-7TPF motherboard by Supermicro, is a 1U server designed for network infrastructure, front-end enterprise, and minimal-downtime cluster server systems.
Incorporating Supermicro's Battery Backup Power (BBP) technology the server holds two entirely self-contained, hot-swappable battery units, charging from the mains current and delivering power to the system through an internal connector. Each BBP module provides output power of 200W for a period of 5 minutes in the event of AC power loss, eliminating the need for an UPS whilst still maintaining system power redundancy.
Thanks to the support of up to 512GB DDR3 ECC 1866MHz Registered memory the VS 361 G8 offers improved workload performance and enhanced reliability while preventing data loss and downtime. Additional features include eight hot-swappable 2.5" SAS / S-ATA drive bays connected to an LSI 2208 hardware RAID controller for RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 6, 50, & 60, as well as dual-port 10GbE SFP+ connectivity as standard, providing fantastic flexibility, higher bandwidth and greater scalability to the datacentre.
