The Boston Igloo 2U-19T-Stor is a high capacity, unified storage system that provides both iSCSI and Storage Area Network (SAN) functionality. Based on Open-E Jovian, a ZFS-based storage operating system, the Boston Igloo 2U-19T-Stor provides unlimited scalability and high performance, at the same time providing back-end storage for virtualisation and backup.
The 2U Supermicro chassis is equipped with 24x hard-drive bays - 21 of which are populated with 900GB 10K RPM SAS HDDs for data storage; complimented by three 3x 200GB SanDisk Enterprise SSD for an L2ARC read cache and 2x 100GB SanDisk Enterprise Endurance SSD’s used in a mirror configuration as a ZIL write cache.
The Boston Igloo 2U-19T-Stor also features Open-E’s latest ZFS - and Linux-based data storage software: JovianDSS. Designed especially for enterprise-sized storage environments, JovianDSS ensures highest data reliability and integrity. It addresses the needs of enterprise users seeking a unified NAS and SAN solution with thin provisioning, compression and deduplication.
Based on the X9DRi-LN4F+ motherboard, the Boston Igloo 2U-19T-Stor features two of the latest Intel® Xeon® E5-2640 V2 ‘Ivy Bridge’ processors, 64GB DDR3 1866MHz ECC Registered memory, and a Mellanox ConnectX-3 10 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Card; delivering high-bandwidth and industry-leading Ethernet connectivity for Enterprise Datacentre, High Performance Computing, and Embedded environments.
