Posted on 26 February, 2019

When you think 5G, think Supermicro®

Supermicro® have announced they are launching their new Edge systems which are designed for Artificial Intelligence and 5G workloads. Optimised for 5G Edge to Cloud IoT ecosystems, these solutions cover a range of compact low-power devices, appliances and mini-servers for data exploration, aritifical intelligence and high performance, high density computing for real-time Cloud-based analytics.

With all of the mobile and IoT devices that are entering the market currently, it creates the question of how to handle all of this data? Of course there are challenges that are associated with this like data security, bandwidth congestion and processing delays to name a few, but this paves the way for Supermicro® as their new solutions will "aim to transform enterprises and empower them with intelligent connectivity from IoT sevices to the cloud".

These new solutions are made to handle all the data demands by 5G using AI inferencing and deliver balanced compute, storage and networking for the intelligent edge as well as long life availability. With ample memory, WAN and LAN communication support, redundant power and operation at 0 to 45 degrees C ambient temperature range, these new designs are game changers for SDN and telco companies.
