In partnership with NVIDIA & Supermicro, Boston developed a range of high performance Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) server platforms optimised for 3D professional graphics applications. Boston's NVIDIA GRID Technology-based solutions are fully validated to provide rich graphics in virtualised environments and support the best virtualisation software from Citrix®, VMware® and Microsoft.

With these servers Boston aims to deliver best-in-class product density and performance for virtual desktop computing - helping customers when making choices on their server hardware and infrastructure for their VDI deployment.

The Boston features up to 2 of the latest generation Xeon E5-2600 v3 processors codename "Haswell", each sporting up to 18 cores each and 1 terabyte of DDR-4 Registered ECC memory. This enables the consolidation of more users than ever before per virtual host. Combined with up to 3 GRID K1 or GRID K2 GRID accelerator cards this enables never seen before rack density.

NVIDIA GRID™ technology offers the ability to offload graphics processing from the CPU to the GPU in virtualized environments. This gives the data center manager the freedom to deliver true PC graphics-rich experiences for professional applications to virtual users for the first time in their VDI deployment.

Depending on the performance profile, each GRID K1 card can be shared with up to 32 power users, and each GRID K2 card with 16 designers / power users.

Applications tested and supported now include Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD 2013/14, Inventor 2013/14, Revit 2013, Bunkspeed SHOT 2014, Bunkspeed Pro 2014, Bunkspeed DRIVE 2014, Creo, Synerscope, Insight Earth, Solidworks 2015 & many more.
