Boston Fenway 2104-0C

The Boston Fenway 2104-0C, powered by Intel's latest generation Xeon™ 1200 v5 series (codename Skylake), brings never seen before performance to the SME and dedicated hosting segment. Now featuring DDR-4 memory up to 2133MHz and 64GB capacity, even memory hungry workloads are well within its grasp.

Intel's Xeon™ E3-1200 v5 series brings a whole host of extra features to the Boston Fenway 2104-0C too. The biggest change in the architecture over its predecessor is the DDR memory interface moving from DDR3 to DDR4, while also increasing the clock speed to 2133MHz. Additionally, there are more traditional performance increases with a 15% improvement in CPU performance and 14% improvement in memory bandwidth.

The V5 architecture brings forth performance gains with native 3.0 PCI-E, USB 3.0 and SATA 3 for all lanes/ports/slots respectively. While these features have been seen previously these were not always natively supported by the Intel chipset and were provided through the use of 3rd party controllers.

Storage options have been brought into the future with the addition of NVMe support alongside the more traditional storage options in the form of 2.5" SATA. Combining both of these provides can provide a tiered approached to your storage that meets both performance and capacity requirements in a relatively small form factor.

NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is a scalable, high performance specification to allow PCI-E Gen3 direct connect to NVMe devices that provides the same benefits as a PCI-E based SSD without the limitations. With NVMe you can expect to benefit from reduced latency, increased Input/ Output operations per second (IOPS), and lower power consumption. Boston Fenway 2104-0C utilizes the 2.5" version of NVMe which removes many of the SSD PCI-E based draw backs allowing for quick access with 2.5" form factor and hot swap trays.

All of these technological and performance increases have been squeezed down into a 1U rack mount form factor. While these newer features outlined above are rolled into the platform this does not impact features expected. The Boston Fenway 2104-0C has 6 SATA hot swap bays, Supermicro's IPMI (out of band management) and gold certified redundant power supplies.
