Boston Limited SC 16 Preview

Posted on 13 November, 2016

Boston Limited will be exhibiting at this year's SC16 in Salt Lake City, Utah between 14th-17 November where we are pleased to announce the launch of our NVIDIA® Pascal™ P100 test drive. Designed to boost throughput and save money for HPC and hyperscale data centers, by taking NVIDIA® Pascal™ P100 GPUs for a free test drive will ensure you're making the right decision for your needs, Boston will even facilitate running your own code or a choice of preloaded applications.

Powered by the NVIDIA's latest architecture Pascal™, the NVIDIA® Tesla P100 is the most advanced data centre accelerator ever built, leveraging the ground-breaking NVIDIA® Pascal™ GPU architecture to deliver the world's fastest compute node. It's powered by four innovative technologies with huge jumps in performance for HPC and deep learning workloads.

The Tesla P100 also features NVIDIA® NVLink™ technology that enables superior strong-scaling performance for HPC and hyperscale applications.

Accompanying the launch Boston will be exhibiting the Boston ANNA Pascal, based on Supermicro® server technology, our latest weapon in our machine learning armoury. The ANNA Pascal is an industry leading, latest-generation Tesla-based server and a masterclass of server design and innovation. The streamlined architecture eliminates complex cabling and GPU pre-heat for maximum airflow, cooling and performance-per-watt. The high-density 1U server includes 2 x PCI-E Gen 3 slots for InfiniBand to enable strong RDMA performance and can support up to 4x GPUs, making it the most optimal system for scalable GPU acceleration and density.

Also on the booth Boston will be introducing our latest all-flash solution featuring FlexiRemap® flash-management technology - the Boston Igloo Plus -Ice.

In partnership with AccelStor, the software-defined all-flash array provider, Boston brings to the market their Supermicro® based, all-flash appliance, the Igloo Plus Ice, a high-availability, 2U rack-mount storage solution featuring 600K sustained IOPS of performance with 5.8TB usable storage capacity and high-speed, 10GbE connectivity. Utilising AccelStor's FlexiRemap® flash-management software technology, the compact, high-value 2U flash appliance saves rack space by packing two controllers into a single chassis, and provides outstanding I/O performance without costly proprietary hardware. The Igloo Plus's high-throughput node replication, allows the full performance of all-flash acceleration to be realised, even with high availability.

We'll also be showcasing our KNL Boston Quattro 12256-T and Lustre* SFF (Small Form Factor) Solutions.

Boston Limited's 2U BOS-QK1-12256-T server featuring the latest generation Intel® Xeon Phi™ processor (codenamed Knights Landing) is designed with parallelism and vectorised workloads in mind. Featuring up to 72 powerful and efficient cores with ultra-wide vector capabilities (Intel Advanced Vector Extensions or AVX-512), the Intel® Xeon Phi™ processor raises the bar for highly parallel computing. With no dependency on the PCIe bus, the versatile processor is capable of handling a wide variety of workloads and configurations that are not supported by accelerators. Integration of 16GB of high-bandwidth memory delivers up to 490 GB/s of sustained memory bandwidth for memory-bound workloads, and available Intel® Omni-Path Fabric further reduces solution cost, power and space utilization.

Boston Limited's Lustre* SFF appliance is the latest addition to Boston's Lustre* based parallel file system portfolio and provides a lower cost / capacity entry point for Lustre* storage systems. Traditional Lustre* solutions on the market are focused on addressing the high end cluster users, while the Boston Lustre* SFF is designed for small or mid-sized clusters with capacities as low as 50TB (and scaling to 250TB). This solution provides a high performance alternative to standard NFS and provides customers with the option to scale and grow as the cluster and user demands increase over time.

Mr. Manoj Nayee, Managing Director of the Boston group, comments:

"Boston are pleased to be exhibiting once again at SC, one of the largest global conferences, and exhibitions, for high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis. Returning with a bigger stand than ever we will be showcasing our latest solutions with experts on hand to help you custom-design your perfect HPC environment."

In partnership with Mellanox Technologies Boston will be giving away a Phantom Quadcopter Drone with camera, simply visit the stand and leave your business card to enter and return at 2:30pm on Thursday to find out if you're our lucky winner.
